Create your cone, between 5 and 13.23 cm (5.21 in), with the paper of your choice.
A 10-point patented system compatible with any paper length or width (5 or 11 cm (4.3 in) pre-cut, sheet, roll, etc.) up to 13.23 cm (5.21 in). Endless format possibilities. Move the slider, pick a preset, compare the silhouettes — you'll find the format that suits you.
Five formats, to give you a starting point.
Three variables define a format: paper length, tip width, and fill quantity.
To help you get started, I recorded five reference points I achieved repeatedly — measured and weighed each time. Two pre-cut paper lengths: 5 cm (1.97 in) ("Mini Batte") and 11 cm (4.3 in) ("Classic Batte"), both with a 6 mm (0.24 in) tip. For the Classic Batte, I also tested a more heavily filled version ("Loaded Batte") — with a 7 mm (0.28 in) tip, because the Roller's flexible rods spread apart to widen the cone and hold more material. Same principle for the maximum length of 13.23 cm (5.21 in): a standard "King Size Batte" format (6 mm) and a more heavily filled "Maxi Batte" format (7 mm (0.28 in), fill pushed to the maximum).
Getting the fill right
The quantities shown were tested with a neutral, fairly dry material. Your material may vary — adjust gradually: if you overfill by a lot, the rods reach their limit and the paper can tear.
⚠️ For loaded formats, remember to spread and pack your material well with the Large Tamper before rolling — it makes all the difference.
These are starting points: the simulator opens up every other one.
| Model | Paper length | Tip | Fill quantity (volume) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Batte | 5 cm (1.97 in) | 6 mm (0.24 in) | 0.75 |
| Classic Batte | 11 cm (4.3 in) | 6 mm (0.24 in) | 1 |
| Loaded Batte | 11 cm (4.3 in) | 7 mm (0.28 in) | 1.5 |
| King Size Batte | 13.23 cm (5.21 in) | 6 mm (0.24 in) | 1.75 |
| Maxi Batte | 13.23 cm (5.21 in) | 7 mm (0.28 in) | 2.75 |
"Volume" is an internal unit — the simulator translates it into grams for you.
Build your cone live.
Pick a preset format, compare them against each other, move a slider: the silhouette redraws itself, and to guide you, the 2 markers for paper length and tip size appear on the Sizing Gauge. All that's left is to dose your material based on the indicative data the tool gives you.
The simulator displays metric units (1 cm ≈ 0.39 in · 1 g ≈ 0.035 oz) — the size table above includes inches.
A unique method that trims away all the excess. Up to 30 % less paper.
From the Mini to the Maxi Batte: the by DdO French method lets you keep only the paper you need before shaping the cone — just like the Dutch method, except here it all happens beforehand. A third less paper — for a cleaner finish and a finer cone, every time.
