3D Animation

Unbox your box in 3D.

Get familiar with your future box before you even hold it. Rotate, zoom, open it up — and above all, watch the unboxing: it shows you how each piece comes out, and in what order. It's this system that locks everything to the millimeter — nothing moves, even in transit. Worth keeping in mind for the day you actually have it in hand.

Piece by piece

Every part, and its role.

The Premium Box is made up of several pieces, each with a precise function. Here they are, in order.

① The Roller

With its built-in pieces: Support Clamp, Pusher, magnets, Large Packer, Humidifier.

The Roller
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The heart

The Roller

essential multi-function

This is the heart of the patented invention: the shell, its flexible rods and its screws form an inseparable whole, completed by the tongue (covered further below). Same mechanism as the Original, same capabilities, same method — plus three built-in additions for comfort: Support Clamp, pusher, and magnets, covered just below. And for purists, the "French method": a precise cut of the paper, with no excess (detailed in the How-to-Use guide).

A practical detail: at the center of the base, a maintenance hole makes it easy to clear out any leftover crumbs. Once the tongue is inserted, it closes back up.

And to see these additions in action, two places to look: the Roller animation on the home page — where you can trigger the Pusher and open the Support Clamp — and the King Size Batte animation, on the How-To page, with two scenes showing what happens on the inside.

support clamp
The support that holds

The Support Clamp

practical

The Support Clamp keeps the paper from riding up during preparation — built directly into the Roller, it clamps in one motion, with no separate tool. It seems minor at first glance; yet it's the testers' favorite — and mine too. A comfort touch for a very simple motion. It's actually the first piece requested and invented when moving from the Original to the Premium.

It also hides an invention within the invention: when the lid closes, it releases on its own, with a simple press. A small click confirms it — the Roller is properly closed, the paper released. Before this system, you could forget to release the clamp and the paper would stay stuck. Not anymore. Over a month of work and dozens of trials to get this natural feel.

The whole thing is actually a combination of four pieces. To see them work together, a see-through scene in the King Size animation, on the How-to-Use page, shows what happens on the inside as it closes — the only way to see it with your own eyes.

Pusher
The clean release

The Pusher

practical

The Pusher solves a real puzzle: the Roller rolls so cleanly that the cone comes out wedged between the four bottom rods — impossible to grab by hand. With the Original, there's the workaround, shown in the animation: turn a gear screw a quarter turn to free the cone via one rod. It works, but it's a makeshift fix.

So I invented a complete, more elegant solution: a system that pushes the cone from underneath, on the tip side, and lifts it out. Like the Support Clamp, it's a combination of four pieces — plus a spring that brings the Pusher back to its resting position, so it never gets in the way of the rods. Nearly two months of research and dozens of trials: the piece traveled all over the Roller before finding its place.

To see it in action: in the Roller animation, on the home page — press the button and watch the four bottom rods react — and above all in the see-through scene of the King Size animation, on the How-to-Use page: pressure from below curves the flexible rods upward, and the wedged cone simply pops out.

The Magnets
Support at closing

The Magnets

practical

From the outside, you can make out four spots — but there are actually six magnets: in two of the four housings, I stacked two magnets, to give more strength to such small ones. Discreet on the outside, strong on the inside. Together, they provide support at closing: the lid settles into place and holds — even when you pick up the Roller from the top. Building on the Support Clamp that releases on its own, they contribute to the little click you hear when closing.

The right habit: when closing, listen for the click. And during rotation, glance over now and then to check everything stays properly closed. Two seconds of habit — for rolling with peace of mind.

The Large Packer
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The built-in packer

The Large Packer

comfort

Built into the side of the Roller — always within reach, impossible to lose — the Large Packer is used to pack the material before rolling. Its curved shape, sized to match the Roller, spreads the material evenly and gives it a slight dome. This is the moment to take your time: avoid a "step" between the tip and the material — too much material right after the tip, and the cone forms too wide, with the tip floating loose.

And feedback from my testers: its shape makes it a perfect little spoon for pouring the last crumbs into the formed cone.

The Humidifier
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
Just the right moisture

The Humidifier

comfort

Under this cap — designed to be as airtight as possible — sits an oval sponge cut to fit it exactly. Dampened a little ahead of time, it's used to moisten the paper right before closing, just before you turn the gear.

For anyone who knows how to dose it, it's a real comfort feature — several of my testers use it every time. And when several people share the same Roller, roommates for example, it really comes into its own: each person moistens their own paper right before turning the gear. Remember to re-dampen the sponge from time to time, especially if the cap has been left open to the air.

② The box and its accessories

Essential, practical, comfort — every accessory has its role.

The gear
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The motion's engine

The gear

essential

The gear spreads the force and pressure evenly along the entire length. It's what turns a simple motion into a clean, consistent cone, with no jerks.

And it hides a trick: a socket designed to accept the bit of a standard power screwdriver. While waiting for the future motorized unit, rotation can already be motorized — valuable for people with disabilities or anyone who struggles with the rotating motion… and remarkably efficient, and stylish, for everyone else.

The 2 Tongues
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The right angle

The 2 Tongues

essential multi-function

The tongue is the key piece. And everything is in its lines. Inserted into the Roller — flush against it, top edge horizontal — it gives you the perfect angle. This is where the first of the only two rules you need to know applies: place the sticky edge of the paper, sticky side up, parallel to the lines. Once that alignment is respected, the paper always sits at the right angle, and the sticky part seals the cone perfectly. (All shown step by step in the King Size Batte animation, on the How-to-Use page.)

Second function, a practical one: once inserted, the tongue seals the maintenance hole in the base — open to clear out crumbs, closed for rolling.

And the third: the second tongue acts as a small scoop for pouring your preparation into the Roller — prepared to the side, scooped up in one go, and set to the right length (and with the Premium Max Box, it pairs beautifully with the container-lid). Having two also means always having the right angle at hand — and for roommates, one each.

The Sizing Gauge
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The right measurement

The Sizing Gauge

practical

The Sizing Gauge is multi-function. First, a double template: for tip width, with its two holes — 6 mm for regular size, 7 mm for wide — and for paper length, with a maximum size to respect, or the paper will jam at the Roller's entrance. Placed on the paper, on a flat surface, it allows a clean cut, in both length and width.

Then there's repeatability: its markings let you make the exact same Batte every time — paper length, tip width, amount of material — and match the settings given on the Build Your Batte page. Paired with the Clamp, it enables the "French method" cut: its lines every 5 mm guide the perfect Batte, the Clamp holds, the Sizing Gauge guides, and good scissors do the rest. All detailed on the How-to-Use page, in the section on the "French method" — and the learning roll is there to practice with.

The Storage Roller
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The signature piece

The Storage Roller

comfort aesthetic

No complete case is complete without its Roller: this is the piece that carries the brand's name, the signature object. It opens via its cap: your creation slides inside, protected, ready to travel with you — with its own style for each collection. And nestled in the Storage Box, it stands upright, nice and stable — you can see it in the 3D unboxing.

The Storage Box
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The storage space

The Storage Box

comfort aesthetic

The Storage Box is the case's free space: use it to keep whatever you need for your preparation. And it has another talent: its notch clips perfectly with the Roller's handle, holding it upright, nice and straight — a stable display. A comfort piece that finishes the object.

The Small Packer
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The finishing touch

The Small Packer

comfort

Shaped like a tiny Batte — no one will miss the nod — the Small Packer comes in at the end of preparation: a gentle pack into the formed cone, for a consistent result all the way through. It's the natural complement to the Large Packer: that one applies before rolling, the Small one perfects it after.

The Clamp
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The clean cut

The Clamp

comfort

On Premium boxes, the Clamp has just one job: hold the paper against the Sizing Gauge for a clean, "French method" cut. Holding the paper during preparation is already handled — that's the job of the built-in Support Clamp. So the Clamp becomes the tool for precision-cut enthusiasts: there if you want it, resting quietly in its case if not.

And you can see it in action: an animation in the "French method" section of the How-to-Use page, and a demo video in the gallery — with a neutral demonstration paper: the Clamp holds everything firmly in your left hand, one simple snip of the scissors with your right, and it's cut.

6 replacement gear screws
SignatureOnyxMade in FrancePrestige
The safety reserve

6 replacement gear screws

included

On my end, everything comes apart: screws, rods — every piece can be removed, washed, replaced. That's intentional: the best materials, zero planned obsolescence, a Roller designed to last for years — swap the rods or screws every now and then, and you're good to go.

The screws are the small parts working with every rotation. At my request, my testers pushed them hard — deliberately rough handling, tough conditions — to find the breaking point. So rather than wait: a set of 6 new screws, included with every box. A bit more plastic and print time for me, zero bad surprises for you.

To practice

The Learning Kit

included

A roll of 4 meters of learning paper, designed for one thing: giving you permission to mess up. The first few tries can be surprising — the Roller is a bit counter-intuitive: everyone's instinct is to place the paper in the middle and the material in the center… which is exactly what you shouldn't do. A few tries and you'll get the hang of it: 90% of mistakes come from poor paper placement — the corner, the alignment — or too much material, or material that isn't packed well. The FAQ will walk you through what went wrong based on the result, and how to fix it.

And most importantly: if it goes wrong at the start, it's not your own paper wasted — the first four meters are on me. After that, your best ones are all yours.

Why the Premium

Three additions requested by testers.

When I gave the Original Roller to testers, two things came back: "how do I get the cone out cleanly at the end?" and "the paper tends to curl up." The Premium is my answer to that feedback.

01

Built-in Pusher

Get the cone out with no workaround, no awkward motion. Where the Original needs the quarter-turn trick, the Premium does it on its own.

02

Built-in Support Clamp

The paper is held in place, directly in the machine. No need for the clamp that comes with the Original — one less step.

03

Magnets at closing

The lid settles into place and holds on its own. You close it, hear the click, and you're off.

Premium FAQ

Questions about this box.

The patented mechanism is strictly identical — you get the same Batte, with the same method. The Premium Box adds three comfort features: a pusher that releases the cone cleanly, a built-in Support Clamp that keeps the paper from riding up, and magnets to help hold the lid closed. Where the Original uses its Clamp to hold the paper, the Premium builds everything into the machine.

And then there's color: the choice of collections stays reserved for Premium boxes. It means more filaments and more workshop assembly — but it looks great, and it's even practical: the markings are easier to see, both on the tongue and on the Sizing Gauge.

No, the collection is chosen at order time. The campaign only runs for one month and is capped at 1,000 boxes total, across all boxes and collections combined. The three limited editions (Made in France, Onyx, Prestige) only exist for the duration of this campaign: once the cap is reached or the month is over, they disappear from the shop.

Lukewarm water, a soft toothbrush, air dry. No dishwasher. The How-to-Use guide covers the methods in detail — and everything comes apart: rods and screws are replaceable (a set of 6 screws is included with every box).

Production launches regardless of the number of pre-orders: the campaign does not get cancelled. Here's my timeline, in full transparency: 1 month of campaign from the moment orders open, then 1 month to receive and set up the machines without rushing — it's the most critical step, it shapes everything that follows — then 2 months of production. The 1st box ships from the 1st week of production; the last one, within 2 months at most after that. So, from launch, the last box is delivered 4 months maximum afterward. I ship twice a week, in order of purchase. This is the worst-case scenario — it may well go faster: I'd rather play it safe, take the time to set up properly, be well supported, and fine-tune my files with the new machines. This is too important to rush. (Your legal 14-day right of withdrawal also applies.)
